I dag pågår noen hjelpeprosjekter i Malawi.
2. Rafiki Foundation
What We Do
The Rafiki Foundation is a Christian organization whose goal is to help Africa’s orphaned and vulnerable children become godly contributors to their communities and the world. It was established in 1985 by Rosemary Jensen and others who desired to help the children of Africa. Rafiki’s plan for Africa has the potential of impacting thousands of children through the establishment of Rafiki Training Villages and Rafiki Satellite Villages. Rafiki Foundation provides God's Word and ministries of mercy to children in ten African countries.
Rafiki Villages
Rafiki Villages provide living and educational facilities in African countries where there are many orphans. The vision of the Rafiki Village is to support the community by operating a home environment and quality schools for orphans, and quarterly medical care for community residents. Rafiki Villages provide a Christian environment for young men and women to develop leadership and life skills that promote their physical and spiritual well-being.
Rafiki Villages include: The Rafiki ChildCare Program for orphans. The ChildCare Program is designed to provide completely for the physical, educational, vocational, and spiritual needs of several hundred children.
The ChildCare Program provides schools, dining facilities, an infirmary, a playing field, agricultural land, twelve cottages, and four residence halls. Each cottage houses ten children and one African mother. In addition, there are four residence halls which provide housing accommodations for our children as they enter secondary school. The mothers and residence hall parents receive training on child development and Christian principles to provide a loving home for each child. Each cottage lives together as a family—eating, going to church, playing, and working together. The children and the mothers connect as family. When the children enter junior secondary school they move to a residence hall at the Rafiki Village which has a married couple who become the Rafiki mother and father for the children thus providing a father figure for our Rafiki children.
Each Village will include an accredited school for pre-k thru 12th grade within the Education Program that will provide quality education for the children who live at the Village. Short-term, vacation instruction in cultural arts and athletics will be available to these children.
The Rafiki Medical Program will provide on-going care for those in the Village, and will be periodically opened to the local community for weeklong clinics as medical personnel are available. Developing countries have very few, if any, resources to give public health aid to their citizens, many of whom have little access to routine medical care.
The intention of The Rafiki Foundation is to minister not just to those who live on Village grounds but also to the surrounding communities. With the village concept, we will be able to provide a desperately needed center of hope and help in areas of extreme poverty.
Since our goal is to develop these children to be godly contributors to their countries in Africa, we do not facilitate the adoption of these children out of their countries, nor do we plan on educating them in the United States. Instead, we will raise and educate them in their home countries so that they will remain and provide the much needed leadership and help in their own culture.
By focusing our efforts on the children and youth of Africa, we hope to change the lives of those who will have the greatest impact on the future of their countries.
